About Viv Kelvin

"I believe life is about building meaningful connections"

I moved from Wales, UK to the San Francisco Peninsula in 2001 with my husband and our two young children, eventually settling in San Carlos. Like many people who come to the Bay Area, we were starting a new chapter, building a life in a place that would slowly become home.

Growing up in Wales, my father worked as a plasterer, and I often joined him on construction sites during school vacations. Those early experiences stayed with me. They shaped how I see spaces as something that can evolve, improve, and support the way people live.

Before that, my academic path was quite different. I graduated from the University of Warwick in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, specializing in Microbiology and Virology. Like many people, my career path didn’t follow a straight line, but each step added to how I understand people, environments, and change.

After moving to the Bay Area, I studied interior design at Canada College in Redwood City and eventually opened my own staging and design business, and later transitioned into real estate, earning my license in 2012 and broker’s license in 2016.  I specialize in senior downsizing, relocation, and complex estate and probate sales, supported by my team’s expert legal resources.

Over the years, I’ve come to see how different homes holds routines, memories, and a sense of identity. And at a certain stage in life, you start to ask whether it still fits how you live now, or if it’s asking more from you than it should.

I’ve seen how emotional that realization can be – letting go of a long-time home. But I’ve also seen how the right changes can create something better, a space that feels more aligned, supportive, and easier to live in.

At this stage of life, I value things differently. Comfort, simplicity, and ease have become more important than maintaining something that no longer fits. And I’ve noticed that many others are quietly thinking through the same kinds of questions.

Why we made Bay Area Boomers

“We’ve both spent most of our lives in the Bay Area, watching it grow and change as we’ve grown and aged alongside it. We’ve raised our families here, built lasting relationships, and grown a thriving business. This is home… for now.

Over time, our work has organically shifted toward helping senior clients downsize; whether relocating out of the area or moving into a local senior community. Along the way, we’ve helped answer many questions by researching key topics and building a trusted network of advisors.

BayAreaBoomers.com is a result of that experience. It’s designed to offer practical, helpful information for Bay Area seniors navigating this stage of life, whether that means downsizing, staying in place, or just exploring what’s next.

We also believe in full transparency. As real estate professionals, we hope that when the time comes, some readers may choose to work with us. That said, our primary goal is that you find real value here.

We’re glad you’re here.”
