The space itself is part of the draw. The interior is decorated in the festive style of Mexican culture, with vibrant paintings and hand-embroidered equipales (traditional Mexican chairs). The Redwood City owner, who has roots in the Mexican state of Michoacán, built much of the location with her family, and the result feels closer to a small celebration than a standard coffee counter.

The drink list runs from everyday hot and iced coffee to café de olla — a traditional Mexican coffee — and specialty lattes in flavors such as horchata, mazapán, dulce de leche, and Duvalín. On the food side, you will find pan dulce (Mexican sweet breads), conchas, tortas, avocado and Caprese toasts, and sandwiches. There is also a kids’ menu, which makes it an easy stop with grandchildren.

The café is best known for the items that made it go viral on social media: a giant concha and a giant coffee, each large enough to serve about ten people. They are priced around $35 and $45 respectively, so they are more of a shared centerpiece for a group than a solo order — but they are part of what gives the place its sense of occasion.
